Identical run

Today's run was pretty much identical to Sunday's run. 2 hours -14.5 miles, sunny, cool (55F). My HR average was about 7bpm lower than last week but that was perhaps due to the close to perfect temps. I'm glad to end October on a decent note after a dismal September.

I'll probably be taking M,Th,F as rest/swim days next week to be well tapered for the half. I think I have never tapered for a half before but I'm probably in my worst shape ever before a half.

A treadmill for a shrimp... What next?

Another perfect fall day

As the folks at the Chicago 'thon battled through some frigid windy conditions it was a sunny 66F day here. Everyone I was tracking at Chicago did pretty well. I guess it's easier to overcome colder conditions than heat...

I decided to run for 2 hours and see how much ground I could cover. Ended up with 14.5 miles. So atleast I should be able to finish my half in a couple of weeks though it might be a PW...

Observation of the day: There were a lot of colorful caterpillars crawling about on the trail. Do they transition from caterpillars to butterfiles in fall? That would seem odd. I managed to avoid the ones in my way. However, with the trail filled with walkers, runners and bikers there were many squished 'pillars. I noticed a lady trying to guide a 'plillar safely across the trail...

Nooner

I got in my first nooner in a while today. 8 miles on the 520 trails. With winter coming in I think I'll try to get in atleast a couple of nooners in every week. It sure helps that they've restored the towel service in the locker rooms at work.

The weather's been awesome the last few days - sunny and cool. It can't be long before the Seattle rains kick in...

October 8th, 2006

Well, I was supposed to running the Victoria marathon today :( According to weather.com they're in for a pretty awesome weather day...

Instead I got in a nice run - a nice painfree run... It been a while since I've gotten in a long run but I needed to hold off to recover completely. I could have run Victoria but that would hardly have been an experience worth remembering.

I'll now gradually base build before getting onto a Pfitz 24/55 from Nov 19th. I am thinking about running the Autumn Classic Half-marathon on Nov 6th in Olympia as a baseline. Lets see...

However, whether it's 5 miles or a marathon it just feels great to get in a run. Nothing like those endorphins...
